In need of a good timer August 28, 2010 Medicinal grower I just got this today and plugged it today. This timer has multiple settings to give you an array of events. This was fairly easy to program, but you'll need to read the directions in order to do it for the first time. After you programmed it and plug it in. Just push the on/off button once and your program will start executing.
I'm hoping this timer will last for a couple years. This is my first timer and pretty impressed with it so far.
smooth August 20, 2010 the german bought a digital timer. Although i didn't get any shipping email or any other communication from seller i was happy with the service. They shipped within a day and promised as delivered.
Ok product but BAD design! August 8, 2010 Hointz 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this timer as I needed something that could handle my window air conditioner while we were away on an extended trip (didn't want the cat to fry). It has great features for programming multiple events and once you read the instructions is fairly intuitive to program.
However there is one major flaw that made me drop this from a 4 or 5 star to a 3. If you look in the picture you can see the outlet on the side of the timer. It is oriented so that the third prong is towards the wall when the timer is plugged in. Any device that has a 'brick' on the end of the plug will probably not be able to fit in this orientation as the wall gets in the way. In order to use it I had to plug a power strip into the timer, and then my AC unit into the power strip. It works, but isn't what I would expect from a timer that is built for higher amperage devices where large plugs are the norm.
Simply redesigning those outlets to face outward or at least down would make a HUGE difference!
Hard to program July 13, 2010 MF (Palo Alto, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The timer has good features and works, once you manage to get it programmed correctly. It is hard to program and hard to verify that it is programmed correctly once you have done it. Although I have programmed other Intermatic astronomical timers (the wall switches) it took me four tries (i.e. 4 days) to get it right. A combination of poor instructions and a very poor interface make it tough to program.
Great timer, nice interface, no problems! July 2, 2010 Darnell Wilson (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I think this timer is great. The dial that is used to do a lot of the settings is so much nicer than clunky buttons everywhere. It has an impressive list of features for adding randomness into the schedule, as well as features based on sunrise/sunset (and pretty accurate as you enter your location). Options for changing when daylight savings happens, so it's pretty future-proofed.
The batteries it uses for backup aren't rechargeable, but they are easy to replace. I like that the display goes off when it's not in use. I tried another Woods timer with rechargeable batteries and it broke in one day, rendering the entire unit useless, so I prefer the user-replaceable setup.
The unit is solid, the display is nice and large, and it's been keeping perfect time (something analog timers DO NOT in my house), so I'd gladly buy another when the time comes. Build quality and quality control seem good for this one..
